Is there a complete/thorough Guide on how to jailbreak iPod touch 4G for newbies?

I don't understand what tinyumbrella does. I don't understand terms like baseband and blob. I don't know what people mean when they say to backup ipodtouch with itunes after saving shsh "blob"?

I don't understand what order to do the instructions in.

So far, all I did was download tinyumbrella for my mac and saved shsh file for my new ipod touch 4g. Now what?
And what does everything mean? ahhh.

You're going to have to wait until greenpois0n.com releases the Mac version of the jailbreak software which should be very soon.

When you sync your ipod it should say "backing up", therefore it's probably done already.

Download greenpois0n when it comes out, and click jailbreak, follow onscreen directions. Done.

what do you mean, when i sync my ipod? Like, whenever I connect it? I don't have anything to sync, so when's it backing up?

also, I have an old windows xp laptop. I can download itunes 10 on there and try limer1n on there. But I don't know all the stuff to do before that.
I want to do this carefully and properly.

You EDIT: CAN use limera1n if you have an iPod touch 4g, but I recommend greenpois0n. If you're on a PC just go to greenpois0n.com and download the Windows version.

If you have nothing on the iPod there is no point in backing it up

Once you used TinyUmbrella just forget about that, you'll only need it if you have a problem.

Also, what are the risks in doing this. I just want to make sure that worse come to worse, I can still restore my ipod touch with itunes to secure my warranty and be able to take it in.

It's impossible to do anything that cannot be fixed. If anything bad happens you can always restore to factory settings.

I jailbroke my IPod touch 3g with limera1n and had many problems. I restored and am going to use greenpois0n when the Mac is available.

I used greenpois0n (yay for bootcamp+windows vista), and while it took a few tries, my 4g touch is now jailbroken. No problems i can see, just the usual dismal memory management for cydia and installous.
