Is there a custom 4.0 GM ipsw, or is it the beta ipsw that everyone is using for JB?

when i try to create a custom ipsw with the redsnow and the GM it says it is not recognizing the ipsw.

any help would be great.

You can jailbreak the 4.0 GM, but you need 4.0 beta 4 as well. Point redsn0w at the beta.

which beta? This is where i get stuck
all the links i find are dead. Is it beta 3?

Sorry, Ivan's instructions are for the 3G. For the 3GS, you need to use PwnageTool and a modifieded bundle file to make a custom 4.0 GM firmware. iHackintosh has a tutorial. It's not for beginners, use at your own risk.
