Is there a free app that allows my MacBook Air to read NTFS-formatted USB hard drive?

I searched in this forum, but only found threads dating back to 2008. Just wondering if there's anything more current.

Thanks!

OS X natively reads NTFS, but it cannot write to it. Aside from Paragon's solution which you probably saw in the 2008 threads, you can try the freeware NTFS Mounter. I haven't used it in a long time and do not know if it still works on recent versions of OS X, however.

Edit: I also found a driver released by Tuxera (who also sells a "professional" version of the same thing) that allows NTFS read/write on OS X. The last stable release was January of this year.

Edit x2: Also found this.

By default there is NO APP needed to READ an NTFS drive. If you wish to WRITE to NTFS, Paragon seems to be the most commonly-suggested.
