I used to get every major iPhone release (3G/4/5/6/7) so got used to the ew features incrementally. Today I will be getting a 12 Mini, which will be my first exposure to a "modern" iPhone, with FaceID/multiple cameras/no home button etc.

Is there a good guide anywhere that captures the differences? Or am I best going back to iPhone X days?

It is going to be a massive jump in performance over my iPhone 7, which to be fair was still doing a good job.

Also: all of the Apple Manuals are FREE (and quite extensive) and can be downloaded from the Books Application.

Thanks! That is too obvious. After 13 years of using iPhones it is probably worth looking through the manual!
I've always downloaded the manuals .....good reading when 'stuck' somewhere. Also: pay attention to the 'TIPS' Application on your desktop....loads of very good info and with repeated readings things tend to 'stick' Can't recommend the 'TIPS' enough.
OOPS! Just saw Ericwns note above! I'll second then!

Not meaning anything towards the OP, but idiots guide to (iPhone model) is a back to basics easy to follow guide.

Yes, on both counts!

basic day to day usage is fine, however the manual was helpful for setting up an eSIM/adding my other SIM to the 12 Mini. I expect that I need to explore the camera options further, and who knows what else I am missing.
I’m finding it generally snappier to use, apps seem to stay in memory longer, so return to where I left off. Interestingly network performance, both Wi-Fi and cellular, seems much better, which I was not expecting (my plan does not support 5G).
