is there any way to get my incoming call screen to be the small picture in the top left of the screen. i hate the full screen picture and i want to know if there is any method, hacking or not to get them all to show as small pictures?

Yeah, the small icons come from an Address Book contact on OS X. If you change the picture via Address Book on OS X then you will have the small pics.

well when i sync my iphone it places the contacts i have changed in my phone into my address book and then when i sync again it just remembers that i made them on the phone so it keeps them large

Just choose to replace the info on the iPhone from the computer (its an option in iTunes).
