I have a 2011 MBP. My first Mac. (I'm a 62 year old non geek but trying)

I have been reading all sorts of info, but so much of it is over my head.

I am guessing I should should do a clean install?

I picked up a WD Elements 2TB from B&H to load Lion onto first, as well as make a copy of everything I already have on my MBP???

So back to my original topic. Is there a idiots step by step, hold your hand, guide for newbies somewhere that will walk me through this task.

Thanks

Lou

If you have Snow Leopard,

1. Update to latest version
2. Open Mac App Store
3. Buy/Download Lion
4. Click "next" 8 times

Done.

Like he said,
Update to latest OS using Software Update
Open Mac App Store
Download Lion
Launch the app
Follow instructions
DONE!

If you haven't already, use the 2TB external HD with Time Machine so you have a backup of your machine. Afterwards, just use the mac app store like everyone else has stated. You really don't have to do a clean install, it will work just fine doing the upgrade.
