iPhone Is there a jailbreak for 7.1.1 and a few jailbreak questions..

I'm thinking about jail breaking my 5S for the first time. I do have 7.1.1 though, so are there any out for it yet?

Also, I've only jail broken an old iPod touch 4 in the past, but I didn't know much about it then so I just restored it cause it made it run slow.

Does jailbreak drain battery at all?
Is there a certain amount of memory you need for it? (To run the tweaks, etc)

Nope, only the tweaks/apps you add


Is there a certain amount of memory you need for it? (To run the tweaks, etc)
Every app/tweak you install will use up a portion of available memory just as AppStore items do

September(possibly October if its delayed), but the jailbreak for it could be released any time between ios 8 release and never.

Key point to take away is that no one knows. Barely anyone knew evasion7 was going to be released when it did. A 7.1.1 jailbreak could come out tomorrow, an ios 8 jailbreak could come out next week for the beta or another jailbreak could never be released. As unlikely as those are, no one knows unless your the one creating it.

Whys that? Because I'm not saying iOS 8 will be jailbroken day 1? Or the fact that no one plans to jb 7.1 till 8? By then no ones going to care about 7.1 because most won't be on it anymore. Will it eventually be jb, yes prolly, but by then no ones going to care with iOS 8 jb.

I believe he is probably referring to the rumors that 7.1 allegedly has been jailbroken, but that anyone who has done so has no plans to make it publicly available

probably referring to you saying there will not be any jailbreak for iOS 7.1 and/or iOS 8 at all
 
Someone (I forget who) already jailbroke 7.7.1... but never releases his JBs. Maybe that alone will get evasion to do and release one.
 
I see your problem, but for us who are part of the jailbreak community there's nothing more to do than wait for the iOS 8 release (golden master). Indeed, hacker i0n1c has already jailbroken 7.1 on an iPhone 5c, iH8sn0w did it on the 4S and winocm was the first one to even show a working jailbreak for iOS 7.1 and up. BUT they don't plan on releasing public jailbreaks at all, which is kind of logical: it would be a waste to hand over those exploits to Apple so that they can fix it in a simple update or upcoming iOS 8 beta. :rolleyes:

So what I think is that, YES there will be an iOS 7.1 jailbreak released, but don't expect it to come out before the final version of iOS 8, it is even hypothetical that there would be an iOS 8 jailbreak out before a 7.1 JB lol. The reason for that is as I said, to save exploits. But of course, if there would be an iOS 8 jailbreak prior to a 7.1 JB, it will most likely just be for those who didn't update or are out of luck of having iOS 8 on their devices and are stuck with old 7.1 (iPhone 4 probably and maybe 4S?: if only i4 then the 7.1 JB will be an untethered version of Geeksn0w, if also 4S won't get iOS 8 then there will be a new jailbreak released, as Geeksn0w doesn't support 4S).
And if the exploits they found on iOS 7.1 still exist in iOS 8, I believe the Evad3rs will simply release an iOS 8 jailbreak tool supporting both iOS 7.1-8.0.

[P.S.: for other people wondering if there is a 7.1 jailbreak, YES (semi-tethered) but ONLY for iPhone 4, google more about Geeksn0w.]

Well that's good bc I would rather an 8 jb than 7.1, I plan on getting the 6.
 
I don't think i0n1c, ih8sn0w, and/or winocm are going to release their jailbreak at all

I imagine the amount of pressure, stress, and hate messages they get from everyone when they are thinking about releasing a public jailbreak can get pretty overwhelming and depressing

Have you ever taken the time to look at their Twitter feeds ?

They get everything from death threats to the worst profanity-laced insults you can imagine from those who feel they have some entitlement to a jailbreak.

Since we will never see 7.7.1, we can assume you are referring to 7.1.1

I know of 3 top tier hackers who have engineered an A-5+ jailbreak for 7.1.x
And there are likely at least a couple more who have done the same but are not "advertising" it to avoid the Twitter abuse.

But none of those exploits will be wasted at this time.
