With the inbuilt Text Expander, which now is embedded in macOS, I wonder if people do use and if there is a need of third-party app like espanzo or text xpander or rocket typist etc...what is it that these third-party apps do which inbuilt text expander now embedded in macOS cannot do? Anyone using this third-party apps can you shed some light on this?

Textexpander for example can include keys such as the tab key in an expansion to fill across multiple lines.

You also have the ability when you type the shortcut that it can ask for multiple inputs. An example would be a letter template that had multiple entry fields.

But I am not going to come across the same type of form with the same fields every time. So how does that help ?

I would recommend watching some TextExpander videos on YouTube.

An example would be I have a standard email that I always send to new clients. I type the shortcut, ;new TextExpander gives a popup window asking for the clients name and other details I’ve defined. I hit enter and TextExpander inserts that into the email template I’ve set up in TextExpander.

The text expander in MacOS is a lot simpler.

And is it better than epanzo?
