I followed one of the many guides and made my own Lion install DVD.

I rebooted my computer and held down the "C" key and everything went great.

When the installer loaded I went into disk utility and saw that the option to "erase" my hard drive was greyed out? I could add and remove partitions, but I could not erase the drive (such as selecting for it to be overwritten with zeros etc...)

Any reason for this? I have replaced my hard drive with an SSD myself if that helps.
