Is there a special reason I was able to get 4.1 SHSH?

A buddy of mine got a brand new iphone 3GS from a authorized AT&T reseller and it came with IOS 4.2.1. Right away I saved the SHSH in tiny umbrella but since 4.3 had already dropped (but before the 4.3.1 jailbreak) it said there was no way to get the 4.2.1 blob. I thought "whatever" and jailbroke it under 4.2.1. Just checked tiny umbrella and for some reason under his phone, it says I have the 4.1, 4.3 and 4.3.1 blobs. Any clues why?

They where previously cached on Cydia. Your iPhone is not new and is probably a refurbished one. Apple does not and will not sign older SHSH blobs after the signing window has closed.
