I've been trying to rip DVD's for a couple of weeks now using Handbrake making .mkv files. Even though I select 5.1ch and subtitles, for whatever reason it always comes up Stereo w/o subs. What am I doing wrong? I'm using the 64bit version of Handbrake - is there a known issue with this version?

What are you using to play the files? Unless you choose to make the subtitles default, then the player wont automatically enable them without you explicitly setting it to play subtitles. Also, are you using a particular handbrake preset?

I'm using Plex, which is pretty good at picking up the various soundtracks and subtitles. For whatever reason it's always showing stereo for the ones I encoded vs. the ones other encoded.

I just checked my most recent file - I got it to recognize 5.1 but I had to code it as a mp4 file instead of a mkv file. I guess I'll just do it that way then.
