Given that I use 2 big monitors for my Mac, sometimes when its dark in my room all the white spaces in different apps get really annoying to my eyes. Is there some sort of night mode? I know there are some of specific apps but thats not useful, in fact, it would be more harmful since my eyes would have to have to constantly be readjusting when I switch from apps that are set to night mode and apps that are not. I also know that Yosemite is going to have "Dark Mode" which when I say demoed, wasn't exactly what I'm looking for. Looked like just the menu bars, finder etc were black. I'm not sure why is that useful if its actually not a universal thing that apply across everything on my Mac.

I'm on Mavericks by the way, so I can't get to even play around with Yosemite's dark mode.
