Is there a way to change the thumbnail numbering in preview?

Hi,
I am hoping to get some input on how others deal with this issue... I want to change the thumbnail numbering in a pdf. I was using acrobat pro but with the upgrade to later os my copy of acrobat pro no longer works. Looking for a way to do this in preview or if there is a pdf editor out there that is free or reasonably priced that would be great!!

You can't change the actual numbering itself as that is not part of the PDF but instead extra information displayed by Preview to show you at a glance what page number you are on. And since it isn't saved as part of the PDF file you cannot change it. You can, however, adjust the order of the pages simply by dragging them to the correct location.
