hi,

is there a way to connect a mba to a mac via cable ?!
i know there is no target mode (no firewire).

want to repair the hdd with diskwarrior ..

will it start from extern usb drive with osX installed (or usb-stick, same) with "option" ?

thank for help.

You should be able to boot from external USB drive by holding option key and selecting it as the boot volume

Are you considering running DiskWarrior as "maintenance?"

If so, it's not necessary.

it's a friend's mba ..

diskwarrior 4.2 showed "hardware error", but after data rescue III backuping and formatting all on thid hdd went well again.

thank you.

p.s. before the mba did'nt start any more; first he made a osX usb-stick 16gb with diskwarrior (dw showed error), then started via extern usb-hdd with data rescue and backuped 99% of the data ..

Glad you were able to save your files!

After you recovered the files, was your MacBook Air's hard drive replaced? If Diskwarrior reported a hardware error, the drive is almost certainly failing.
