Is there a way to disable iMessage for my number but not my email on my iPhone?

Question is the same as title.

I want to disable iMessage for my phone number, but not my email address because I'm getting a Galaxy S6 and I plan on switching between the two devices.

So let's say I'm using my iPhone and I want iMessage to work, but solely through my email and not my number, is this possible?

I believe so. Go on to iMessages on your Mac and then go on preferences and you should be able to untick the phone number and leave the email
