Is there a way to do this in iPhoto?

So I take a ton of pictures. And so there are really just way too many pictures in my iPhoto library. I'm trying to clear a bunch out, but they're still in the iPhoto library folder, aren't they? Is there a way to get rid of these files, or just resurrect them all that aren't in the library so I can go through and delete the ones that are no good that way?
