i know you can't officially have them both installed at the same, but wasn't sure if there might be a hack that would enable me to do it.

I haven't tried this but I wonder if you could have one installed under one user, and the other under a different one? You'd have to have different sets photo libraries for each though as 9 wont be able to read an 11 library.

I don't think that there's a way to install both at the same time, but, if you had either multiple partitions or an external hard drive with the appropriate OS installed on it, you could have a different version of iPhoto install there. The caveat is that you'd have to boot to the other partition or drive to use the other version AND each would need it's own iPhoto Library.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Theres got to be an easier way to do it than that

i don't them running literally at the same time....however, i do want the option to run either one. The integration with Flickr and Facebook is much better in iPhoto '11. Also, i like the (sort of) full screen view that iPhoto '11 has in some modes. However, everything else is better in iPhoto '09 and much more useful.

I almost forgot ...I love the new slideshows on iPhoto '11 too

I don't think that's possible, because the libraries are incompatible, so for example if you imported some photos in 11, then 9 wouldn't see them. And even if you left the photos in their own directories, then that would cause problems, for example edits in 11 would be stored somewhere than 9 couldn't see, and would appear as new photos, or unchanged, or vice versa. Plus you would for sure be heading fora world of heartache due to unforseen interactions.

Stick with 9, or upgrade to 11, or wait for ?12? and hope its better than both.

Move iPhoto 09 to a folder inside the Applications Folder.

Duplicate your Library in the Pictures Folder.

Install 11 and open only one of the Libraries.

As long as you use the same iPhoto for each Library you should be okay.

To choose an Library to open: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' - this works with both 09 and 11.

Note: I haven't tried this but a couple of folks on the Apple forum indicated it worked. Good Luck!

Thank you RedRaven! It worked like a charm! I knew there had to be a way to do it.....
