Is there a way to keep the split keyboard undocked?

Perhaps this should go in the iOS 5 section, but does anyone know of a way to keep the split keyboard undocked? Love the split keyboard, but it makes far more sense in the middle of the screen,IMO. But after a bit it defaults back to the dock.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

you hold the split key (bottom right corner) and drag the keyboard up to the position you want.

When I hold it down i am not able to drag it anywhere, if I undock it it moves to a little below the middle of the screen. Then if this time works like the others, at some point it redocks automatically.

Just leave it where you want... I believe it stays.

maybe your holding it too long. just press it and move it immediately.

Bingo, tried that and it worked. As for keeping it undocked, maybe it's user error there as well and I accidentally docked it myself. Thanks.

yeah, little tricky in the beginning. I had to figure it out the hard way.
