Is there a way to make the system preferences remember monitor orientation?

I have a MBP and an LED cinema display. When I plug the display in, it remembers that I want the 24" display to be the primary display. Great. But every time I hook it up, it forgets that I want my laptop monitor centered vertically. It always aligns it on the top. I've got a stand for my laptop and I want the transition of the windows to be consistent. Right now I have to readjust it every time in the preferences. Any way to do this automatically?
