Basically I'd like to block cookies for all sites except selected sites where I need to login for example. Is that possible? I don't find a way to do this, I only see a "block all cookies" checkbox in the Safari preferences.

I basically want any site that I visit to block cookies automatically. I also don't want to go through this whole "accept/deny cookies" thing every time, I want it to block them all and don't even want to be asked. Imagine how much time of your life you'll spend with this in total, I wouldn't wonder if at the end of my life it would make some weeks or even months that I lost just doing this (at the same time I don't want to accept cookies).

Not possible in Safari. There are third-party tools that can clean up unwanted cookies for you, such as Cookie (I used it in the past and it supports the white-list behaviour you want), but not prevent Safari from creating them.

One more recommendation for "Cookie" to control your cookies.
It works with other browsers as well as Safari.

As I understand it, Cookie does not block cookies, it just deletes them at certain moments and "Removing data while your browser is running is NOT recommended"

You can do this for free with a script, take a look at post 12 https://macscripter.net/viewtopic.php?id=46279

Thanks, it’s not what I’m looking for however. I’m really looking for something that Blocks cookies altogether, but I want to allow some selected sites to place them of course. It’s hard to believe there is no such thing. You’d think we live in a modern time and all, but don't manage to put such basic things in place.

You could use Safari with Block all cookies enabled and another browser for the websites you log in to.
