got a password protected dmg file. forgot the password to it.
anyway to get it open?
i dont know and dont remember how man characters it has. i use different passwords some of which in the past ranged up to 24 characters...

thnx

No. Encrypted .dmgs are protected with 128 bit (or 256 bit, depending on what you chose when you created it) AES encryption. Unless you work for the NSA, it's unrecoverable.

I'm on the same boat. Have an encrypted .dmg file I made which I forgot the password too.

Is there a product I can use which will go through a list of possible passwords?

I'd like to start a txt file list and just keep adding to it with all the possible variations that I think it could be. But I'd like to keep track of what's been tried.

It's annoying to have to try three at a time, then click on the "ok," and then try three more, etc. And then keep manually typing this into the txt file.
