I'm also waiting for the factory unlocked version, but if you don't want to wait, you can get an AT&T iPhone5, cancel the contact after 60 with with the ETF and request AT&T to unlock it just like the earlier iPhones.

I was told by AT&T that if I buy the iPhone 5 at the full price no commitment price I can request an unlock from AT&T customer service and the phone will be unlocked free of charge.

They said on the phone since it's an AT&T phone out of contract they will unlock it.
