Is there any way to payoff a work phone so that I can trade it in?
I’ve been with the company for 20-years and I’ve had multiple work phones and they have never asked for one back so they wouldn’t care in the slightest what I do with it.
I traded in my previous work phone after I moved the SIM to a spare phone, and again my work neither knew nor cared.
But this time I checked the IMEI and it says the phone is still under contract so is there any way I can pay it off since the trade-in value will be greater than the payoff?

Ask your employer and tell them you want to pay it off.
