Hi I was just wondering if there was a way to put a mid 2012/early 2013 MacBook pro SSD in a newer model, let's say mid 2014. I am well aware that they won't fit, but I was wondering if there was an adapter to put a mid 2012/early 2013 retina MacBook pro SSD in a newer model. I don't have any interest in changing the SSD in my MacBook pro, but I was just wondering if it was possible to put a mid 2012/early 2013 retina MacBook pro SSD in another model.

If the "older" SSD was not goin to replace the one inside the newer Mac, it would be best to install that older SSD inside an external enclosure, and then connect it to the newer Mac.

No, you can't do this.
Nacho offers a good solution, IF the SSD is a 2.5" SATA SSD (as in the Unibody 2012).

Tell us... what is the REASON why you'd want to do this?

Short answer no.

Assuming you're talking about the 2012 Retina models which had SSD blades installed, they were Gen 2 SSD which had single 7+17 Pin SSD connector on the logic board. The early 2013/2014 Retina models used Gen 3 SSDs which had a single 12+16 Pin connector and shared a PCIe 2.0 x2 interface which the 2012 Retina models did not have.

The Gen 2 SSD used the mSATA III interface whereas the Gen 3 SSDs used the PCIe interface. Very different technologies which are not compatible with each other.
