Is there a toggle in the settings or 3rd party app that will allow for video to be recorded in landscape orientation even though you hold the iPhone in the portrait orientation? Yes, would be severely cropped on screen while recording, but recorded video would be the full-res landscape. Thanks!

Yes you can.

Hold the camera in landscape mode and begin recording video while its in landscape mode. Then while its still recording, turn the camera into vertical mode and shoot the rest of the video vertical.

When you open up the video to view it (after you've finished) in the photos app it will be rotated incorrectly. Then use a video rotation app to rotate it back to it's correct orientation.

I use this app:

Video Flipper - Rotate & Flip by Pham Manh
