I wanted to know if there was a way to stop my macbook from going into standby mode when I close the lid. When I leave my computer I like to close the lid but I have come to realize with my new macbook it goes into standby ending whatever programs are running in the background. Is there a way to prevent this?

The programs shouldn't shut down when you close your lid. They simply also go into standby. Opening the lid should bring the programs back to life. There may be a way to do this but depending on the programs you are running it could have poor effects on your computer. Heat travels up and through your keyboard and would be going straight into your screen. Short term it probably would be okay but long term it's probably not a good idea.

I don't know what other people's experiences are with Insomniax, but it made my macbook act strangely, and it messed with with the energy saver settings even when it was not running, so I quickly got rid of it.
