Is there a way to use client computers harddrive space for server use?

I work at a college newspaper. We have 30+ Mac Pros of various ages and processors. Each computer has at least 100 GB of free space, because all the users are networked users.

My question is this: Is there any way to reserve (or partition off) some of that hard drive space for the server to use? It seems like a waste to have ~3TB of free space just sitting on all of these computers... :(

Mac OS X Server 10.5.5
2.8 Quad-Core Intel Xeon

All client computers are running Leopard
