Is there a version of Adobe photoshop that doesn't need a scratch disk and is compatible with a Macbook pro? I had to un install PS CS5 because it was eating up all my 8GB of memory and invading my HD. It was a complete glutten of all my system resources.

2.3GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200
8x Double-Layer SuperDrive
MBP 15" HR Glossy WS Display

I don't think "compatible" is the correct term. Most if not all PS work with OS X but it's recommended to have an external scratch disk if you're going to work with large files. I've used CS4 and CS5 with no problems but I'm not a professional user, I use it for minor/small things that don't require me to use a scratch disk. If you're experiencing slowdowns, perform all updates on a software level and if that doesn't work, you'll want to get an external HDD to use as a scratch disk. Besides that, PS works fine with OS X.

I have a seagate Goflex drive external drive, But PS did not recognize it.

Adobe Photoshop CS5 works fine. You do not need a scratch disk unless you are working with huge files.

What file were you working on? What was the size?
