when I'm transferring files from one drive to the next , i want know how far along the transfer is , but i want the stat in the finder icon on the dock
just like firefox and transmission has when your downloading something

is there a hack/tweak/app to have this info in the finder icon or in menubar

When copying, a separate progress bar will actually appear, but it'll only appear if you're copying a huge file.

You have to sometimes open up Mission Control to get the progress bar window.

I have been looking for an app like this as well. Sadly, I haven't found one yet.

That's not possible. But having the progress bar window is good enough already IMO.
