Is there an app like Serval Mesh (android app)

I have read about a project using the serval mesh app on android phones which allows users to call one another without the use of data or cellular towers and without being connected to the Internet but using the Wi-Fi function on their phones to communicate. (if I'm understanding correctly). A google search for serval mesh can maybe explain it better than I.

As of now there is no app for iOS.

Does anyone know of a similar app?
