I'd love to get something that could work with Quicktime Player's screen recording tool (instead of a separate stand-alone interface). Are there any options out there?

Before you hit record, check out the options under the triangle on the right hand side. I'm fairly sure you can record audio from there.

Soundflower is a free application designed to do what the Geeks at Apple forgot to do, Who could have known that people actually wanted audio with their video recording screen video...not apple.
Try this app, it does not always work but it is free.
