Is there an app to convert AVI files to Itunes friendly Mp4 format and do this...

I'm lazy - quite lazy

I want to know if there is a program that will do the following trick. Basically when I download movies or shows in non mp4 format, I want the following to happen

1) Nightly script to read all files downloaded in folder
2) Run program to convert all files found and convert to mp4
3) Add mp4 files to itunes - sort into TV shows vs Movies
4) Move avi files to bin + flush

Is there anyway I can get this to work? Is there an app for this?

I don't know that handbrake will do all of that, but there may be some add-ons for handbrake that give it most of that functionality. As for sorting into Movies and TV, not sure how it would know which is what...

Convert from avi to mp4? handbrake. Do the rest that you asked? Unless you write a script in automator, then no.

Sorry to bring back an old one. This might be somewhat similar to what the OP wants to do. I use it regularly to pass my dvd collection to my computer, and I do all of what the OP wants to do except instead of doing avi to mp4 I go dvd to mp4. I'm sure this can be fixed, just put the avi files in the source.
