Is there an easy way for me to sync my address book between my MBP and my Imac?

Do you use Gmail? If so, you can setup Address Book on each machine to sync with it.

I'd prefer not to let Google encroach on my privacy any more than I absolutely need to. Are there other options I can go for?

You could use export/import. Other than that, there are options to sync with google, yahoo, exchange. Also looks like there is ldap support.

You could use a utility like Chronsync to do it if the two are on the same home network or setup to share files. I sync various files between my MBP and MP using it.
