My fiancee sometimes send me a link in iMessage for a product.

now this is not the issue but when at work my default browser is chrome as it is logged into the company gmail account as we use gmail and google apps.

so her link auto opens in chrome.

for personal stuff at work I use safari signed into my own account for syncing.
so my history and favourites will show on my iMac at home (oddly it does not sync my passwords though)

If I right click on a link she send me gives me option to open url but this will open in default browser.

Is there an option to open with and choose a browser?
there is in a windows machine (was in windows 7 anyway) can Mac not do this?

If I have a "webloc" file (web location URL) on my desktop, I can right-click it and bring up the "open with" dialog that offers a list of all my installed browsers than will open the URL (or at least try to).

This DOES NOT WORK if I right-click on a link in an already-open browser (such as Safari). Only works "in the finder", and only with "webloc" files.

the link is in iMessage not a browser.

So as it in iMessage and not finder I cannot select which browser.

oh dear.

But thanks again for your help.
I find you and a couple others here have given me the most help and I regard you guys as "oh mighty ones" as it where.

I'm not sure if you can still add your own Services to either system-wide or app-specific contextual menus, but that might be an option.

I know you can write new Services using Automator.

Try these search terms:
mac os service contextual menu
mac os customize contextual menu
mac os service customize contextual menu
