Is there another model of the iPhone in production?

I just remembered this Macrumors story that said that Apple would adopt the mini-usb this year. Now that we have seen the new iPhone and it has the 30-pin connector, do you think that there is another iPhone model in production? Or did Apple lie to the European Union?
