Other is there any chance that I can get my hands on iPhone 17 Pro before 5pm on September 16?

Got to buy it before this site posts all the "Top 10 reasons you should wait for the iPhone 18" threads.
Almost certainly no chance, as we can expect preorders to go live on the 12th with first deliveries happening on the 19th.
There are several ways you can make this happen.
The easiest would be get a review unit. They’re likely already out there so you just have to find some reviewer that’s willing to trade a significant amount of cash for the phone.
The other and more difficult way would be if you know someone at Apple. You could grease the wheels with some refreshing hundred dollar bills.
Pretty sure review units have to be returned to Apple once a period of time is over.
True, but I bet it’s not till after the actual public release date. It might be a situation where you could borrow the phone but not keep it.

There were mistakes in the past with shippers delivering day before, but days??? Don't recall that ever happening.

Secondly, review units have to be send back. So they wouldn’t be able to use it anyway.

Also, isn't there usually a hands-on for tech journalists after the keynote? So get invited to that, or pay someone invited to impersonate them.
Enough for an influencer to potentially risk being blacklisted by Apple and losing all the ad income generated by having early access/review videos on launch day? You sure about that?
Yes, I’m sure some would do that if you offer them $100 million. It’s only a question of how much money is “enough”.
If we are including stupid amounts of money anyone would spend on getting an iPhone a few days before launch, sure, it is possible.
After seeing what must be one too many articles on this site, with so many images of the new big ugly iphone camera strip, i was so close to asking a guy at a park today “Omg how did you the new iphone already, they aren’t out yet, are they?” — only to realize it’s probably a Google Pixel or similar. 🤭
