is there any downside to waiting until the 59th or 60th day to buy AppleCare+ for new iPhone 13 Pro Max?

the reason is that I have a $175 Apple Gift card coming in a week or two... so I kind of want to wait to use that towards the $199 2-year AppleCare....

Yes, I know that if I drop and crack it now, it won't be covered.... but just wondering if there are other things....

There isn't a downside. Heck you can even get it on day 364 and still get AppleCare+ on your device. Only caveat is that after 60 days, you must take it to the apple store for a physical inspection oppose to hardware diagnostics.

interesting.... didn't know about the 364 day....

wait... 364? can't be a coincidence.... look at how I got my 13 Pro Max... 346 miles... perhaps I will wait until the 364th day and drive 346 miles again to the Apple Store and sign up for Apple Care? :)
