Am needing to get a new Mac and figure may as well go for the latest M1 since they scream. However, since Ii'd have to get my own monitor am wondering if there is any way to get 120hz going? I'd figure if there's any Mac capable of doing this then surely it wold be the new M1's. But then again I've owned Macs and have been part of this forum for well over 13 years and don't think I've ever seen 120hz on any Mac before.

You can use a 120hz external display with most Macs at lower resolutions (2560 x 1440p, 1920 x 1080p)

The link above is listing Macs and monitors that can do 4K at 120hz.

That’s really good info to know. I’m heavily considering buying a M1 Mac mini but don’t have a monitor yet.

I am currently using 165Hz with my M1 Mac Mini over HDMI:

Any monitors you recommend without breaking the bank?
We really need more info in what you are looking for.

The one I am currently using with my Mac Mini is this one:

I got it on New Egg for a lot cheaper ($278.39) in 2019, so I am sure that you could find a better deal than what Amazon is selling it for.

It is nice, and has 200Hz for the Display Port input, and 165Hz for HDMI 2.0 input.

I currently share the monitor between 3 devices, the M1 Mac Mini, my Late 2011 17" MBP, and my ****** work laptop.

Actually, my work laptop was pretty expensive, but it has Windows and I just don't like it.

I’d love to keep it under $200, although $300 if need be but I’d sleep better at night if it was under $200

I’ll definitely be biting the bullet soon as I’m scouring Mac mini M1 deals now.
