Is there any other community like the MacRumors one? Like lets say for, Sony or something? Because I've never really seen a message board like this for anything else especially this big!

There are other boards, but I believe this is one of the largest and most active.

in general, each nitch has their forum, but sony doesn't have the same size following as Apple

This MR 'Community' board isn't that active. I wish I could post general questions on 'iPhone' board to have more broader range of answers and reactions.

There's a forum for everything ;)

Google Forums: http://www.googlecommunity.com/

Laptop Forums: http://forum.notebookreview.com/

Windows Sucks Forums: http://www.cantwindowsjustdiealready.info/ (This one appears to be dead...)

Linksys Forums: http://forums.linksysbycisco.com/

PSP Forums: http://www.pspmod.com/forums/

Just search Google for "_________ forums" and you'll find something :)

Notebook review isn't bad either but they only have a small section for Macs.

I respect users more who don't put 99.9% of their posts in the iPhone section. Everyone is grumpy and snappy in a bad way in that section.

It's rare for a company to be treated like a religion :p

And there are communities like this for brands like Bimmers.

Oh there is also HoFo.

I am a member of many different forums, road racing(not street racing), 2.3L Turbocharged Ford engines, trucking, car audio, a specific International diesel engine, ect,..

Some are very specific and some are pretty broad in scope. All have a close community of people who often meet in person. I even took a cross country trip in my car that was only possible because of one of those forums. I had a string of jobs that was made possible by the forums too. Whenever I'm looking up some new or interesting topic the first thing I try to find is a forum that covers that topic.

For anything there is to be interested in, there is a board for it. Believe me.

As for me, I'm a moderator at the biggest proper community in Norway, over 175 000 members now. Considering that we live in a very small country with a small amount of people, that's not bad. It all started with discussions about motherboards and PSUs, now it's a general board to discuss anything.

But, the challenge lies in finding the most popular one.

I was trying to find a board for G1 Android and also a board for Verizon, but I couldn't tell which one is the most active for each. It wasn't that easy or simple to do.

+1. I'm a member of an Acura forum called Acurazine and its incredible how many people are on it. Everyone is friendly too- as in no "piss fest" threads.
