you can turn off imessage in the settings.

check with your carrier to block numbers. i know verizon easily allows me to do so in my online login.

if you devices is jailbroken/can be jailbroken... the most efficient way is using iBlacklist.

If I turn off iMessage would it still be sent as text?

Or all iMessages or texts?

I have iPhone 5

iOS does not allow this.

You can "block" iMessages from that person if the person is not in your Contacts. Go to Notification settings, then find Messages and scroll down to only accept iMessages from your Contacts.

It doesn't truly block them but it doesn't notify you. Not ideal but still.

It's something Apple needs to fix/add on iMessage. As it is now, you either have iMessage ON/OFF.

If you turn OFF iMessage, they will still come through as texts. so you need to block the phone number through your carrier.

Verizon = block up to 5 numbers for free. if you list a number as one to block, if the other person calls, they will get an automated recording saying your number is not accpeting calls. if the person texts you, they will NOT get a notification that their message is being blocked and you will NOT receive their text.

ATT = you have to sign up for SmartLimits which costs $5 a month. this allows you to block up to 10 numbers. if someone calls you, they will get a voice recording saying your number is not available. if they text you, they will get an auto reply from ATT saying your number is not accepting texts. one thing to note, SmartLimits is not really a blocking feature...it's designed to prevent kids from calling certain numbers by their parents. So, if you block someone on SmartLimits, you will NOT be able to call or text them either.

Sprint = screw sprint....

Hmm ok but will it still come as text?

Sorry to revive but I just sent this to the person and they don't bother me anymore...
