Is there any way to improve text clarity at 1080p?

I'm connecting my 13" early 2015 Macbook Pro to an external 24" 1080p screen (dell ultrasharp) and the text is too small everywhere in the OS, so it looks a little blurry. On the built in screen it looks perfect. Is there any way to fix this?
