I just got an external hard drive for Time Machine tonight and now my formerly clear desktop now has a "Time Machine Backups" icon. Is there some way to remove it from the desktop but not the Finder sidebar (as from what I've read the desktop is a part of Finder)? I've read that you can hide all external drives in System Preferences, but I just want to get rid of the Time Machine icon.

Finder > Preferences > General (items to show on Desktop)
Finder > Preferences > Sidebar (items to show on Sidebar)

I don't know of a way to remove one icon and not others.
