I've had my verizon iphone 5 for 3 weeks now and just recently noticed hairline scratches on the screen. I've read that not all 5's are prone to scratching, only those that the coatings were not properly applied. Is there any truth to this? Thanks

No, not when it comes to the glass screen.
If you don't want any scratches you should have put a screen protector on.
Everything scratches. And there is no protective coating on the screen, it's called an oleo phobic coating for smudges. Not to protect the glass from scratches.

Agreed, it's always a compromise I guess... Can I live with a few hair line scratches and enjoy the screen ... I guess for now, but I'm looking for a screen protector that lets me enjoy the retina but also holds up.... Maybe the zagg this time around?
