Is there anyway that I can apply Photobooth effects to pictures I take with a digicam

I really like the simplicity of adding effects with the photbooth. But is there anyway that I can do this with pictures that I take with a digicam? I know I can use photoshop to replicate the effects but I'm very computer illiterate and something that's simple like photobooth would work wonders.
