So I have searched this... the issue is I don't have a widget-com.apple.widget.stickies.plist on my time machine?

I had been rolling on a time machine backup sense 2010 and was running into issues so I decided to do a fresh install but lost my dashboard sticks data. I gave up looking and restored my iMac, I recently obtained, from the time machine fully and the stickies are there but with no text? Why didn't this info back up from time machine and where did it go?

Your sticky notes are stored in `~/Library/Preferences/widget-com.apple.widget.stickies.plist` which can be opened using Xcode to view/extract the notes (or just copy the file into place from your backup).

The ~ section of the path is your home folder, and Xcode is a free download from the App Store.

If the file is missing or your notes aren't in there on your backup, then something must have gone wrong and there's nothing you can do except perhaps try an older backup.

If you use the stickies, then the file does exist.

Are you searching in the right Library ?

There are stored in :

Macintosh HD / Users / your_user_name / Library / Preferences

Not in :

Macintosh HD / Library / Preferences
Yep, I actually have acquired content from both places.

So I did a fresh install on my 15" MBP I was having some issues and it also freed up over 30GB of space of stuff I didn't need. I then went into my Time Machine back up and retrieved my Garage Band info and data, the stickies app info and all sorts of stuff by my dashboard stickies info just wasn't there.

So then I obtained a 27" iMac and I figured what the hell and I restored it from my MacBooks original back up, and it restored all the stickies in the locations I remember but with no text..... and now that I have messed with stuff every back up says the stickies file was recently edited and they are all the same, no text.
