I heard that you need a program downloaded from cydia along with a program on your computer called winscp. but is there ANY possible way to do it without cydia? i have an ipod touch 2nd gen 2.2 thanks! :apple:

Actually I just tried this and you need to install OpenSSH from Cydia. Winscp said that the connection was refused (when i didn't have openssh installed)

No.

Let me save you from starting a third thread on the same topic. If you want to run apps from Cydia you have to jb.

no, iPod/iPhone firmware is closed so SSH is not possible. There are Apps in the AppStore that allow SSH-ing from your device to someplace else. But there is now way you're going to get into the device without jailbreaking...

if you have jailbroken 1st gen iPod touch you can SSH.

since the OP has a 2nd gen iPod you CANNOT ssh into it as jailbreaking is not possible on the newer iPod Touch model and Apple would throw out any app that would let users access the main file systems via ssh
