Are you thinking of Apple Pay maybe, which you can use on lots of websites? You won't need an app to use Apple Pay; if the site offers it as a payment method, you'll see it during the checkout process.
Wallet is not available on iPads because iPads have no NFC. Per the App Store: "This app requires specific features not available on this device."

Has Apple ever provided a reason as to why there isn't an Apple wallet on iPad?
There is no wallet app for iPad but if you go under settings there’s a wallet and Apple Pay Section where your stuff is housed
No but there should be. Now that the apple card is out I would much prefer to view my transactions, spending trends, etc on the larger screen. It’s annoying having to go into the Settings app and you don’t get all of your data there anyway.
That is the very reason that I want a wallet on my iPad. I can't imagine lugging it with me to stores to use to pay for items
Exactly. The app has evolved way beyond its original purpose of paying at the register. Now its got a lot more going on that would be super useful on the large screen.
Thank you all for responding. I was thinking that it was just me but in fact it really is something that Apple should be looking at instead of worrying about their share prices and how much money they have. Very disappointing
There's every chance Apple is working on it but just hasn't leaked announced it yet.
