I'm happy on beta 1 apart from a few small issues, and the apps I'm creating work great. Is there any beneficial reason for me to update, as vie heard it's currently worse than beta 1 and I should wait for for beta 3. Is this true?, thanks.

I believe Apple shuts down beta 1 after 15 days. You must update or you won't be able to use your iPhone.
Well, that was the case last year... we don't know if it's for sure this year. Hopefully it's not though, I think that would be stupid of them considering beta 2 is worse.
