First of all, I already have a bootable Mojave on my external HDD.

If there a way to upgrade to Mojava will I have many problems ? like slowing downs, bugs and lags.

And will an update to Catalina still pop up in the system preference ?

If all the above questions are 'no', Then what is the best version of macOS I can install on my iMac ? (I will do a clean install)

Hi. Here's what I've done for some time. My iMac is an old 2012 machine that came with Mountain Lion. I loved ML but I also wished to upgrade and I didn't want to lose ML. So I purchased an external SSD and installed Sierra, then I bought another SSD and installed High Sierra on it and then Mojave on another SSD. At a time I had all three SSD installed and could boot from either one including the internal 1 TO Fusion-Drive with ML. I even partitioned an SSD and installed Catalina on a partition. It can boot but some problems occurred. All other OS disappeared except ML. So I decided to stick with Mojave indefinitely. Who knows, this could work for you. But I must say that the fastest OS for such an old iMac still is Mountain Lion followed by El Capitan.

Replace the iMac's GPU, then upgrade to Mojave?
