Is there something wrong with my Mac?

I have a 1 year old 12' PB with 1.5Ghz processor and 512MB of RAM, running OS 10.4.8. According to iStat Pro, I only have 1/3 of my RAM free when the computer is idling with no programs running.

Its normal, don't worry about. My Mac mini idles at 1/3 ram and it has 1.25gb.

512 MB aren't exactly awesome, but still that is normal. OS X loves RAM.

But seriously get more RAM, 512 really isn't enough for 10.4

Yeah, you really need more than that. My MacBook Pro is showing 400 mb of RAM usage right now, and I've got 1 gb. I'm planning on bumping it up to 2 gb at some point in the near future, just to give it a bit of extra 'oomph'...

Don't worry. I am in Safari and iTunes and 400 MB of RAM is being used. I have 1.25 gb of ram in my powerbook.
